"We have really enjoyed how our endowment to assist organic chemistry students has grown and has inspired other giving plans for us. Now we have two research endowments and have made provisions to increase them substantially through our estate plans. It is a win/win deal. We enjoy meeting some of the students who are being helped by our plans now and we are glad we can continue to encourage and assist so many more in the future."
Judi and Jo Beran
Kerrville, Texas
When the Berans arrived in Kerrville, Judi was a retired math teacher and Jo was a retired chemistry professor. It was not long before Jo had become a volunteer in the chemistry department. When they saw how chemistry research projects engaged students and expanded their appreciation for science, the couple established a fund to provide research opportunities.
Observing how well it worked, they set up a second fund and revised their wills to add even more funding after their deaths. This blended gift helps Schreiner every year and provides encouragement and confidence about the future of the chemistry research program.
